Donald F. Walker, PhD Biography

Dr. Walker grew up in Northeast Ohio. He completed his PhD in clinical psychology from the APA-accredited Fuller Graduate School of Psychology in 2005. He finished his predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health, in Canton, Ohio. His predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship work focused on treating a range of childhood problems, including childhood trauma, parent training in behavioral interventions, assessing and treating ADHD, and best practice assessment for Autism-spectrum-disorder.

After completing his postdoctoral fellowship, Dr. Walker taught at 2 separate universities while maintaining a separate private practice. His clinical and research work as a professor focused on addressing spiritual issues in recovery from childhood abuse, as well as integrating spirituality into evidence-based treatments for children and teens. Dr.  Walker has previously co-edited 2 separate books with the American Psychological Association. His video, Spiritually Oriented Psychotherapy for Trauma, was released by the American Psychological Association in 2017.  Dr. Walker has worked in private practice full time since 2015.

Dr. Walker lives in Chesapeake with his wife and their 4 children. When not working, he enjoys exercising, hiking, being outdoors, and playing various games with his wife and kids.
