What to Expect During The Initial Intake
The initial intake will be scheduled for 60 minutes. This appointment is typically for you and your child or teen together.
Prior to your initial intake, please complete the online intake forms through our online scheduling service.
During your initial intake, we typically will:
- Review the consent for treatment/service agreement form and answer any questions that you have
- Confirm your insurance billing information
- Review issues related to confidentiality with you and your child or teen, including the limits of confidentiality
- Meet with both of you to discuss your child or teen’s presenting problems. Parts of the intake may be done with both parent(s) and child or teen together in the room or separately. This depends on the nature of your child or teen’s presenting problems and any practical considerations for collecting the intake information that we need.
- Obtain family, academic, developmental, medical, and treatment history for your child or teen
- Obtain a history of your child or teen’s presenting problem(s)
- Give feedback and then provide evidence-based recommendations for addressing your child or teen’s presenting problem(s)
After the initial intake is over, with parental consent, we then typically schedule follow up psychotherapy sessions. If you are coming specifically for an assessment for your child or teen, or we recommend additional assessment, we will schedule follow-up assessment sessions.
